Senior Research Assistant (one post) / Research Assistant I (two posts)

The Centre for Educational and Developmental Sciences is inviting applications for the positions of Senior

Research Assistant and Research Assistant I for the project “A multi-disciplinary study on the roles of

Pedagogy and Parents in Children’s Developmental and Educational Trajectories.” This project aims to

understand the development of key childhood outcomes (numeracy, literacy, self-regulation, socio-emotional

skills, physical and psychological well-being) with a focus on understanding the interplay between the quality

of classroom pedagogy and children’s developing capabilities.

For both posts, the appointee will be responsible for participant recruitment, liaising with parents and

kindergartens, and administering standardised tests. He/she will also assist in literature search, data

management, organizing project schedules, and other project-related administrative work. The Senior

Research Assistant is also expected to manage the research team on a day-to-day basis. The appointment will

be for a period of 1 year with the possibility of renewal subject to mutual agreement.

For Senior Research Assistant post, applicants should have a Master’s Degree in social sciences, psychology,

education, or other related subjects plus one year’s post Master’s Degree full-time working experience or a

doctorate. Those with experience in project management will be preferred. For Research Assistant I post,

applicants should have a Bachelor’s Degree in social sciences, psychology, education, or other related subjects.

Applicants for both posts should have excellent written and spoken skills in both English and Cantonese.

Experience working with kindergarten children and in conducting research are desirable.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract. Fringe benefits include contract-end gratuity, leave,
