Sport Nutritionist

The Hong Kong Sports Institute Limited (“HKSI”) is the Government’s delivery agent of elite sports training systems. The HKSI’s mission is to provide an environment in which sports talent can be identified, nurtured and developed to pursue excellence in the international sporting arena benchmarked at Major Games results. We are now inviting suitable candidates for the following vacancy:

The Job

Reporting to the Sport Nutrition and Monitoring Manager, the Sport Nutritionist will be responsible for the following duties:

  • To conduct individual nutritional and anthropometric and monitoring and advise on optimal nutritional and energy requirements for sports specific performance and health;
  • To collaborate with allied ETSTD areas as appropriate to the ETSTD biopsychosocial operational model;
  • To provide on-field support at local and overseas training and competitions;
  • To design and supervise the menu for athletes’ food services and document the nutritional values;
  • To conduct nutrition education for groups by holding formal and informal discussion groups and lectures for athletes, parents and coaches;
  • To provide regular updates on sport nutrition information for the athletes and coaches based on international research and new developments;
  • To participate in the annual ETSTD research programme;
  • To supervise junior staff;
  • To demonstrate an active commitment to personal professional development; and
  • To perform any other appropriate duties as assigned by supervisor.
The Requirements
  • Master or higher degree in Dietetics or a relevant discipline;
  • 5 or more years of working experience in nutrition, of which at least 3 years are in sports nutrition;
  • Proven experience in assisting the delivery of elite level sport nutrition programmes;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Good command in both spoken and written Chinese and English. Knowledge of Putonghua will be an advantage; and
  • Awareness/ knowledge of Child Protection in sport and equal opportunity issues in the context of Hong Kong.
